Taxotere is a popular chemotherapy drug primarily used to treat breast cancer. It is also used to fight many other forms of cancer, including prostate, stomach, head & neck, and non-small cell lung cancer. One of the reasons Taxotere is so popular is because patients are typically administered the drug only once every three weeks, as opposed to the weekly treatments received with other chemotherapy agents.
Unfortunately, it seems this convenience may come at a heavy price. Taxotere has been linked to permanent hair loss (alopecia), especially in women who have used the drug for breast cancer treatment. The manufacturer of the drug, Sanofi, did not warn consumers of this side effect, claiming that hair would grow back after chemotherapy ended.
The Harrison David Trial Attorneys have long represented women who are dealing with permanent hair loss due to Taxotere. It is our job and our mission to hold pharmaceutical companies responsible for their negligence and to help clients make a full financial recovery.
The Psychological Effects of Permanent Hair Loss
Most patients come to terms with the fact that they will lose their hair for a period of time after chemotherapy is administered. But with many chemotherapy drugs, however, hair loss is only temporary. With Taxotere, many women have experienced permanent hair loss over their entire bodies.
Permanent hair loss is not only disfiguring, but can also be emotionally devastating to those affected. Many women experience depression and low self-esteem as the result of their hair loss. This is in addition to the distress and grief of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The trial attorneys at Harrison Davis have vast experience in litigating pharmaceutical cases. We know how uncomfortable the process can be – especially when you’re fighting for your life. It’s our goal to treat each client with the dignity she deserves while we vigorously pursue the compensation that is owed to you.
